Oogie Boogie Bash tips to know before going

June 26, 2023 by brandie Leave a Comment

Oogie Boogie Bash is the biggest after-hours event at the Disneyland Resort. Here we will give you 5 tips that you need to know about before heading to the event!

Oogie Boogie Bash tips to know before going

Oogie Boogie Bash is our favorite event to go to every year! We are already big fans of Halloween time at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure so Oogie Boogie Bash is the cherry on top! There is so much to do in the five hours of the event so we are here to give you 5 tips that will make sure you get your money’s worth!

For more information on the Oogie Boogie Bash events, check out our post about everything you need to know.

Oogie Boogie at The Disney Animation Building in Disney California Adventure.

1. Meet the rare/new characters first

In 2022, they had characters like Bruno from Encanto and Clarabelle, Daisy, and Minnie as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. The lines for rare and/or new characters will end up being long and you could spend over an hour in the queue. We recommend seeing those characters as soon as the event starts. As the night goes on, those characters’ lines will keep getting longer and longer so your best bet is to see them first.

2. Do the popular treat trails second

After seeing those special characters, head over to the most popular treat trails. In 2022, Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco had the longest lines. In the past years, Oogie Boogie has always been in The Disney Animation Building (Hollywood Land). 2022 was the first year that Ernesto de la Cruz was there. He was located right between Buena Vista Street and Avengers Campus.

NOTE: They closed Ernesto’s trail down twice during the event. The Frightfully Fun Parade goes right by the trail so they close it down. In the past, the parade starts at 7:45 pm and 10 pm. They will close the line 15 minutes before the parade starts and it won’t open until the whole parade is done.

3. Have a plan

My family’s plan is to go to as many of the treat trails as possible, see the Frightfully Fun Parade, and if we have time, get on a couple of rides that have low wait times. Your plan might be different from ours but you will most definitely need a plan.

There is so much to do in five hours and unless you are going to more than one Oogie Boogie Bash, you will want to make the most of your time. We recommend getting there before the event starts and making a plan with the guide they give you when you get into the park.

4. Go into the Villain’s Grove during one of the parade times

Villain’s Grove line could be just as long as the character meet-ups especially when it gets dark. We recommend getting in line during one of the parade times. The parade times are 7:45 and 10:00. There will still be a line but it will not be as long as it normally is throughout the event.

5. Get into the park before 3 pm if you can

In the past years, Blue Sky Cellar (right across from Avengers Campus’ front entrance) has been another Oogie Boogie Bash check-in. This way will be less busy than the front entrance of the park. If you have a Magic Key reservation for Disney California Adventure on the day of the event, you can stay in the park and be first in line at 3 pm at the Blue Sky Cellar.

NOTE: The tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash in the past have gone on sale in June. This means that the reservations will be open for September when you get your tickets. If you have a Magic Key Pass, we recommend getting it the day of your event.
